From June 9th
to July 3rd 2014 Biological Farming Association "Elkana" under the
awareness rising and sensitization component of the EC funded project
“Supporting Agricultural Co-operation in Georgia” held set of trainings on
“Basics of Agricultural Cooperation” for inhabitants of the 26 villages in 20 village communities of three municipalities of Georgia
(Akmeta, Gori and Kaspi). 394 participants interested in the issues of
agricultural cooperation attended the trainings, including farmers, farmer
groups, women groups and representatives of the municipal agro-information
centers.
The following issues were discussed during the meetings: importance and principals of cooperation, types of cooperatives, cooperatives formation rules, advantages, tax privileges etc. The participants were actively involved in the discussion of the training topics. During the trainings the groups interested in the formation of cooperatives were identified, with which the project will continue to work actively. The interest regarding agricultural cooperatives is rising because of the importance of the topic.

Farming Association “Elkana” will continue trainings and meetings on the topic
of agricultural cooperation in the targeted regions also in the future.
