From August 14th to August 21th 2014 Biological Farming Association "Elkana" under the EC funded project “Supporting Agricultural Co-operation in Georgia” held information meetings on small grant announcement for farmers groups/agricultural cooperatives for the inhabitants of the three municipalities of Georgia (Akmeta, Gori and Kaspi).
The small grant competition implies financial support to capital investments projects of farmers groups/cooperatives (purchase of capital assets for producing, storing and processing of fruits and vegetables) on co-financing basis. Applications have to be submitted to the office of Biological Farming Association ELKANA from 20th of August till 20th of September 2014 (for detailed information in Georgian please visit our web-site: http://www.elkana.org.ge/index.php?action=news&news_id=52&lang=geo).
On the first stage the meetings were held with the representatives of the municipal governments and the municipal agro-information centers of the three municipalities, together with which the information meetings in target villages were planned. In total 11 meetings held in the villages and the municipal centers attended by 84 participants interested in the issues of agricultural cooperation, including farmers, representatives of farmer groups,agricultural cooperatives and women groups.
The goal of the meetings was to provide detailed information about grant announcement to farmers, farmer groups, agricultural cooperatives and women groups living in the targeted three municipalities. The conditions of participation in the grant competition and the procedure of the selection of the target groups were discussed during the meetings. Grant application forms, guideline document and the Guide on Agricultural Cooperatives were distributed to the participants
Biological Farming Association “Elkana” will continue informational meetings on the topic of agricultural cooperation in the targeted municipalities also in the future.
