Biological Farming Association Elkana is implementing the project “Empowering Poor Communities and Micro-Entrepreneurs in the Georgia Tourism Sector.” The goal is to support employment generation and increase household incomes of poor, IDP’s, single mothers and other vulnerable communities in Kakheti and Imereti regions. The project started in February 2015 and will finish in January 2018.
What kind of ideas will be accepted for funding?
Elkana will review ideas aiming at provision of various services and products to local and foreign tourists.
Amount of grant and grantee contribution
Applicants can apply for the minimum amount of USD 500 and maximum amount of USD 2,000. Also, applicant must provide the same amount as co-funding, either in cash and/or in kind.
In what cases will the ideas be funded?
Elkana will fund ideas meeting the following criteria:
- Connection to tourism
- Technical feasibility
- Benefit for poor
- Substantiated co-funding from the applicant
- No negative social or environmental impact.

Deadline for submission
Application submission process is not limited by deadlines and will be open year-round. Selection and funding of the applications however will take place periodically.
