On April 28th in the frame of the European Neighborhood Program for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD) and EC funded project “Supporting Agricultural Co-operation in Georgia” Biological Farming Association “Elkana” (Consortium leader organization “Oxfam GB”) organized the demonstration of strawberry growing in household greenhouse conditions, a demo plot established in the frame of the project in the village of Matani (Akhmeta municipality) with the beneficiary Teimuraz Terterashvili.
Purpose of the demo day was to introduce interested farmers and other stakeholders with modern methods of strawberry growing in the 100 m2 greenhouse.
Represantatives of the local government, farmers, Municipal Information-Consultancy Center of Akhmeta, Agricultural Cooperatives financed under the project and local media attended the event. The event was attended by 38 beneficiaries.
The guests of the demo day had the opportunity to taste strawberries produced in the frame of the demo project and get acquainted with strawberry growing practices in greenhouse conditions. The event went successfully and provoked participants’ great interest. Biological Farming Association “Elkana” will continue such activities in the future as well.
